National Tree Week 2018, Mayor Lynch honours Mr. Nestor

Seán Lynch, Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Limerick planted an oak tree on the grounds of Patrickswell National School to launch National Tree Week 2018. Mayor Lynch explained, "Every year the mayor selects one school in the district to launch National Tree Week". He added, "This year it was my turn and I had no hesitation whatsoever selecting Patrickswell National School. My four children went to this school and they got great care and attention here. My family is very proud to be associated with this school."
Mayor Lynch further explained that he wished to dedicate the tree ... "to the memory of a great teacher who worked in the school for over 35 years, Mr. John Nestor." Mr. Nestor who was the Vice Principal of the school for many years passed away suddenly, last August, ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."Mr. Nestor was a gifted teacher," he said, "and he was very kind to all the pupils and he loved sharing knowledge with them." Mr. Lynch concluded the ceremony by telling the large assembly of pupils and staff (who were dressed up as their favourite characters from books, for World Book Day) that he hoped they would, "Stand beside this tree from time to time and maybe, sometimes, they would say a little prayer to Mr. Nestor."
