The 2014 Hurling Season is on the Way!

The 2014 Allianz Cumann na mBunscol City hurling leagues will be starting soon. 2013 was our most successful year ever in schools hurling: the school won an incredible quadruple of titles - the City U-13 A (Olo Cup) and Under 11 A championships, the Mayor's Cup and the Leader Cup (County championship).

Patrickswell N.S. became the first school in the (approx) 100-year history of primary school hurling in Limerick to achieve this  amazing 'quadruple'. It is true to say that no primary school in the County ever had a more successful hurling year! The players who made history were undoubtedly a credit to themselves, their parents, school, club and Parish and they will have a special place in our memory for it (and in record books too!)

Many of last year's players have moved on to secondary school since the summer. For this reason, there will be lots of new lads who will get their chance to shine in 2014. This year's hurling teams will begin the defence of their various  titles in the coming weeks.

Colours Day Fundraiser

Pupils raised almost €300 for SERVE, thanks to today's Colours Day fundraiser! Well done everybody!

Colours Day for SERVE on February 19th

Past pupils, Shane Quinlan, Jamie Dillon and Jordan Higgins visited Patrickswell N.S. this week to tell the pupils about their proposed trip to Brazil (later this year) to work in solidarity with marginalised people. They hope to work on a SERVE house building project there, in association with their own school, St. Clement's Redemptorist College. They asked their primary school friends to support a Colours Day on Wednesday, Feb 19th (the day before the Mid-Term Break). The pupils' answer was a resounding, Yes'.

Parents' Association Table Quiz

Patrickswell N.S. Parents' Association Fundraising Table Quiz
Thanks to everyone who came to the quiz; the very professional Parents' Association officers who organised the evening; all the businesses and well-wishers who sponsored 'spot' prizes for the raffle - and Christy Murphy (Cúchulainn Bar) who provided both the venue and the winners' prizes. Corrector and scorekeeper on the night was Ann Ronan - who did an outstanding job, as usual.
A most enjoyable night was had by all: there were plenty of laughs, smart answers, correct answers and 'other' answers during the quiz! And, just as importantly, all money raised will help fund the relaunch of the schoolbook rental scheme in September 2014.
Quiz Winners: Presentation of Prizes
First place: prize collected (on behalf of the team) by Alan Murray
Second place: prize collected (on behalf of the team) by Paul O'Connor
Third place: prize collected (on behalf of the team) by Danielle O'Brien
